Holistic retrofit

The site, which is derelict, was purchased as a blank canvas for a deep retrofit. The project involves extending the existing dwelling and upgrading its energy efficiency to meet the EnerPHit standard, with the goal of creating a Net Zero Building.

Along the house plot runs a disused train track which has been transformed into a scenic walking trail with copious vegetation along it. The design concept aims to incorporate the healthy and fresh qualities of this green corridor into the house, connecting through to the rear garden. Biophilia concepts are integrated into the design, with each room designed to emphasize the interconnectivity with nature through the use of natural light, air, water, colour, and vegetation.
